Haha, wow I'm sad I missed that.. How does the vinyl reissue sound??

And the venue probably reeked of the "green" stuff as well.. haha

The DVD is O & O Revisited is nothing short of sensational sounding and they look like they are having a great time together playing....

And to seal the deal of their breaking up before the album was released , was when it was finally released, it was  MISSPELLED!! hahaha   Colin  Blunstone even said "well, hey, it is misspelled.." but as you can see, it stuck....that probably told them that it was time to hang it up.. lack of sales and lack of RESPECT...

CRAZY.....

Stopped by the local record store to find out what time they are going to open on Friday and just had to go through the used bins.
Picked up Tommy Bolin "Private Eyes" & Little Feat "Time Loves A Hero" for all of $10.
Both are in very good shape and are heartfelt reminders of my misspent youth: In a dark room... with loud music.
We shall see what RSD brings.  Happy Thanksgiving to all

Picked up the Beach Boys Pet Sounds.  It is the Capitol Records reissue of 1999.  I must say the sound stage is unbelieveably large and very well focused.  I had heard a lot about this album, and while I like the recording and most of the music I am not sure its rating is up there in my top 25.   But given the comments I read I just had to get it.  No regrets.

I plan on buying Duke Ellington's Ellington Live at Newport and Masterpieces by Ellington.  Any recommendations on which reissues to get.

Thanks

John McLaughlin and the Mahavishnu Orchestra
« Reply #263 on: August 04, 2016, 04:01:34 pm »
I have been digitizing a number of records for a fellow audiophile.  A couple of the albums are by John McLaughlin and the Mahavishnu Orchestra specifically they are Visions of the Emerald Beyond and Birds of Fire.  Interesting music, not something I would listen to often but I will say the recording quality for late 60 - early 70's recordings is really good.  Very clear and great soundstage.  If you are into real progressive rock I would recommend any of his albums.  His guitar playing is unbelievable, the music is different.

Any thoughts,  I have four other of his albums but have not listened to them.  Something I plan on doing in the next couple of weeks.

Vanessa Fernandez -When the Levee Breaks
« Reply #264 on: August 09, 2016, 06:16:52 pm »
I just received the Vanessa Fernandez album from Acoustic Sounds.  I had heard a few of the songs at The Show in Newport and really enjoyed the music.  For those of you that have not heard of this album it is all Led Zeplin songs done much slower and a little jazzier.  Vanessa has a very sultry voice and her timing and interpretation is great.  Plus, the recording quality is top notch.

My only problem was the album I received had a small white inclusion on side D which caused a real loud popping when encountered by the needle.  So I am requesting an exchange.  This is one of the better albums I have heard in a long time.  I would recommend it to anyone.  While it is a little expensive $69.00 it is also 3 LP's at 45 RPM.

2016 was a hell of a year for me.  I added about 250 LPs to my collection.  Too many to list individually.  https://www.discogs.com/user/Rocketman248/collection

Picked up a few more today.  Notable albums are:

Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon (MFSL pressing)
The Allman Brothers Band - Brothers and Sisters (MFSL pressing)
Zabriskie Point soundtrack
David Gilmour - Self titled
Syd Barrett - Opel
David Bowie - Hunky Dory (my first Bowie album.  Gonna have to start looking for more.)
Yngwie Malmsteen - Rising Force (I listened to the hell out of that album when I was a teenager.  Couldn't resist grabbing it today.)

Here's to a great year of collecting!   :)
